This beautiful, wood column was salvaged from a 1920's teacherage in North Carolina. The wooden column stands 10 feet tall with a round, fluted column and a beautiful, intricate, Temple of the Winds style plaster capital and square, wood base. The acanthus leaf ornamentation adorning the sides of the capital appear to be blowing upwards toward the abacus, the square component at the top of the capital, indicating a Temple of the Winds style column.
Salvage History: This column was salvaged from a Henderson, North Carolina teacherage, built in 1920. A school or city often provided a treacherage; safe, communal, affordable housing for their young, single educators. The Henderson teacherage, located at 128 Church Street, was slated for demolition in late 2017. The salvage was featured on the DiY Network Show "Salvage Dawgs", Season 8, Episode 5.
