I am listing this unique item with no reserve. I listed this particular item as NEW only because it has never been used.  This is an original 1940-1941 Indian Dispatch tow advertisement flyer.  By 1942 Indian was producing strictly for the U.S. Army as were other manufacturers. This is New Old Stock and guaranteed not to be a reprint. These were mailed to INDIAN dealers and the like to try and stir up excitement for the 3 wheeled Indians.
Upon receipt if the dealer or individual was interested in receiving a packet of information from the factory in Mass. they would separate the postcard and mail it in to the Indian Executive offices in New York.  From there they would be contacted to see if they wanted to just receive paperwork or see the Dispatch Tow in person to decide whether or not they wanted to order one for their store or dealership.
This card is colorfully printed on
light cardboard stock and measures 12.5 inches x 9 inches when opened
. It is a tri-fold and folds up to be mailed to potential buyers. The colors are still very bright. The first year Indian started to skirt the Dispatch Tow was 1940 and the last year that they were produced in very limited numbers was 1942. The skirt in this drawing and the shape of the clamp on the tow bar leads me to believe that these brochures were produced in late 1939 or early 40 and used through production into late 41.  To the best of my knowledge the shape of the clamp on the tow bar is more of a shape that was used on much earlier models and not the 40 or 41. The 40 and 41's had more of an X shaped hand crank on the tow hitch. Indian artists more than likely drew up this pre-production picture to generate interest and possibly pre-sell DT's before the 40's were in production and before they were released for sale.
Being this card is not addressed to anyone it was never mailed to a dealer and remains a virgin. All of the type and drawings are crisp and clean. Any blur that you see in words or drawings is from the photo not the postcard. Picture 5 shows a light fingerprint. This is a beautiful and intact piece and will be packed with loving care before being posted to the winning bidder.
There is no reserve on this one of a kind piece so don't get sniped at the end of the auction.  If you want it for your collection understand that you might never have this opportunity to buy one again.
Absolutely original. Never used by dealer. Tear off mail in card still attached to original brochure. Bright vivid color on hard thin cardboard stock. Not much Dispatch merchandise, parts, or literature survived the demise of Indian.
This is an almost impossible piece of advertising to come across, especially in this condition and never used. Been in my collection for almost 5 decades. Time to move it on to it's next conservator.
