    Description

    9 x 9 inches, suitable for table top, a dress-front, framing, etc.
Very fine hand made chain stitch, silk on silk with golden metalic thread and bead-work
This piece of embroidery is part of a collection that was created
in Afghanistan in the late 1970s prior to the invasion by the
Soviet Union. One photo shows the corner of Chicken Street. Taken
in 1977, this street was famous because of the curio and
embroidery shops that attracted thousands of travelers making
their way overland from England to India. The second photo was
taken in 1975. It depicts Haji Haleem Makoo, whose shop in Kabul
contained a treasure trove of embroideries. The third photo shows
the Long Riders, Noor Mohammad Khan (left) and Asadullah Khan
(right) drinking chai in Mazar Sharif."
On pre-owned items such as these there may be lose treads or some missing beads
(this one is in very good condition-as can be seen in photos).
