Very nice decorative antique oak hardwood newel post. Has a black painted finish. We believe its possibly red oak as its heavy for a hollow newel post.  Nice detailed 3 sided 7 point star pattern with 3 sided lower bullseye pattern. It is a salvaged piece so expect to find nails, nail holes, and small chunks missing. scuffs and scratches. There is a few separations in the seams, but over all solid condition.   The newel post is great just as a display piece, or repurpose in to a home renovation project. There is  notched on the bottom with a few soft spots around the edges (last photo).  Overall good solid condition. Please look over the pictures and ask questions when needed. Thanks for looking!
