Offered for your consideration is this Beautiful Ornate Hand Carved Antique Oak Newel Post with Fancy Acanthus Design Carvings all around the crown and 2 rows of Dentil molding below the collar. This Circa late 1800’s to early 1900’s Newel Post measures 47-1/2" tall x 9" square. It would make a marvelous fern stand as the wood comes down all the way to the floor on all 4 sides of  this post. It is free-standing, but if wanting to make it into a stand, I think a bottom platform would need to be added for stabilization in holding a fern plant without tipping over.  However, we prefer not to alter anything that we list, & try to keep items original to their intended design & purpose. This post has not been refinished & is in its original golden oak color.
