Antique Victorian English Wooden Post Box Country Estate Glass Postal Box 1890s
DESCRIPTION
Antique English wooden postal box with high gothic bevelled glass and original locking mechanism. Dating to the late Victorian period (1880-90s) this postal service box would have been found inside the foyer of a large Victorian mansion or stately home. All outgoing post was placed into the receptacle and the local post master would have collected in from the foyer upon admittance to the property by the housekeeper. Only the grandest of estate would have had this privilege prior to the postal service as maintained today. The brass escutcheon on the front has the word " Letters" on it.
A great addition to your vintage home decor, Victorian or Downton style collection.
MEASUREMENTS
The box measures 10" long by 7" wide by 16.5" tall and weighs 6lbs 6oz.
CONDITION
In solid working clean condition with wear and tear commensurate with age and retains its original key. The top has a slight lift on the wood which is not noticeable until viewing from underneath (please see all pictures as they form part of the condition description).

Pick Up Only Items must be collected within 14 days of purchase.
In the very unlikely event that your item is lost or damaged during post, then WE are responsible and will issue a full refund. We just kindly ask for your co-operation providing photos and/or a statement for the insurance.
