    Description

THIS LISTING IS FOR THE BLUE PAINTED SEA CHEST ONLY. MY J B HITTY DOLL, HER QUILT AND HAT BOX ARE NOT A PART OF THIS LISTING.
This listing is for a sea chest / storage trunk / travel case / storage box for a 6 1/2" Hitty doll. This chest's outer dimensions are 7 3/8" L x 3 3/8" W x 3" H. This sea chest was originally created as a storage box or carry case for the Collectible Concepts/Judy Brown Design c1998 Dancing Hitty souvenir doll from the 70th Anniversary Friends of Hitty Luncheon in Williamsburg in 1998. The chest was originally green and had attached paper images of Hitty on the outer and inner upper lid.
When I originally purchased this chest it was showing signs of wear. I re-glued seams, removed peeling paper, sanded surfaces, and repainted the chest with a Colonial blue shade of acrylic paint. I lined the chest with delicate blue and white floral wallpaper and made new rope handles. I considered decorating the chest to match the sea chest made for Hitty by Phebe Preble's father, the sea captain, in the book Hitty. I also considered decorating it in the Pennsylvania Dutch manner with tiny flowers and leafy vines looping around Hitty's name. I also considered decorating it as a Pennsylvania Dutch style bridal hope chest. Since I remained undecided, the chest remains plain and has never been lacquered. I leave it to its new owner to decide its motif and to finish it with a protective clear spray lacquer.
I have done my best to describe this item but pictures will always tell you more and are considered an integral part of the description. Please review all photographs carefully and please ask any questions that you may have before offering to purchase this item. Please *
