This wide expanse Of River And isles was referred to by poetic red men as “Manatoana”, or “The Garden Of the Great Spirit.” As usual, the Indians expressed the spirit of that beauty spot in fitting terms, for it was the haunt of all sorts of wild game and a paradise for the native fisher and hunter.
